One of this week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athletes of the Week already has started the post-season. Another is helping their team peak at the right time as it gets ready for the playoffs.

Lenox's Rory Lenehan was a key contributor last spring as the Millionaires won a Western Mass team title and advanced to the Division 4 Final Four in the state tourney -- playing first singles as an eighth-grader.

This year, she again plays at the top of the ladder for Lenox, leading her team to an undefeated record in team match play.

Last week, Lenox won three matches, and Lenehan won in straight sets every time.

Then, over the weekend, she advanced to the second day of competition at the Western Mass individuals tournament.

Lenox (12-0) ended the week as the No. 5 ranked team in the commonwealth in Division 4 in the latest MIAA in-season power rankings.

On Monday, the Millionaires will be tested on the road in a non-league trip to Belchertown to face the Orioles, currently ranked No. 5 in the state in Division 3.

Western Mass play for baseball teams does not get underway until May 20.

The way the Pittsfield Generals have been playing of late, they should be one of the favorites in Class B. And sophomore Morrie Fried is a big reason why.

Fried is leading Pittfsield with a .381 batting average. He also leads the Generals in RBIs (15) and home runs (four).

He had a hit on Thursday in a win at Taconic, went 3-for-5 with a homer the next day at Wahconah and finished his week with a 2-for-2 day and two RBIs in a 3-0 win over Mount Everett.

Pittsfield (11-5) will be tested this week at Hopkins Academy on Tuesday and Pope Fancis on Thursday. The Generals will be looking to avenge a 9-6 road loss to Pope; non-league foe Hopkins is currently ranked seventh in the state in Division 5, the top ranking for a Western Mass team in the division.

Pittsfield is ranked No. 13 in D4 in the latest in-season power-rankings.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
