Reading is Magic demonstrates how inspiration can be found in a book; how a story can change one’s life. Offering his own life story as inspiration to others, Ed the Wizard promotes and encourages the building of reading skills to all of his audience members.

Join us to hear a story and practice creative movement with Laurel Lenski!
This creative movement offering is designed to provide an opportunity for children to exercise their imagination, strengthen their fine and gross motor skills, and support the development of social skills and emotional intelligence.

Laurel Lenski is a Berkshire County native with a passion for sharing the power of movement and expression. Scholastically, she holds an A.A. in Dance and a B.S. in Expressive Art Therapy. Since obtaining those degrees, she has applied her knowledge and experience through various professional roles in the human services field. Many of those roles afforded her the opportunity to lead exercise and movement classes for senior citizens, residents of long term care communities, and creative movement groups for preschool age children.

In her Met debut, Asmik Grigorian tackles the demanding role of Cio-Cio-San, the trusting geisha at the heart of Puccini’s tragedy. Tenor Jonathan Tetelman is the callous American naval officer Pinkerton whose betrayal destroys her. Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong is the steadfast maid Suzuki, and baritone Lucas Meachem is the American consul Sharpless. Acclaimed maestro Xian Zhang makes her Met debut conducting Anthony Minghella’s vivid production.

HOMEFARM AT UNDERMOUNTAIN TAG SALE

The mission of the nonprofit HomeFarm at Undermountain, 400 Mountain Road, is to preserve and restore the farm's buildings, protect scenic views and introduce people to healthful benefits of interacting with animals and the land. Proceeds from the tag sale will benefit its work and the sale will be in the historic 1902 Jaques Barn, for which the town approved $190,000 in Community Preservation Act funds toward its restoration.

Who: Mass Audubon Berkshires Wildlife Sanctuaries
Where: Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary (309 Holmes Rd. Pittsfield, MA)
Description: Help maintain Canoe Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary by building bog bridges, maintaining trails, and pulling invasive plant species. Dress for the weather and working outside. Bring your favorite work gloves and water bottle/beverage. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This program is part of Mass Audubon's Second Saturday Volunteer Series. Volunteers help support Berkshires Wildlife Sanctuaries through a variety of stewardship and property-related tasks.
